Simple Find & Replace
I often need to run search and replace operations on stored data for both renaming and editing file content. I find it simpler to use different applications for the particular operations I need to perform and that's why I developed this set of Find & Replace applications.
Using them is simple. Just drag files and/or folders to the application's icon to perform the indicated action. You may drag items to the target field if the application is already running. Copy and paste or type your data into the Find and Replace text fields.
All operations are case sensitive. Be sure to close target files that are open in other applications before performing any operations.
Version 1.6 includes repair and enhancement of window resizing.
Version 1.5 adds native Intel support.
Version 1.4 adds Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4) compatibility.
Features of Simple Find & Replace 1.3
- Updated for Panther
Now works in Mac OS X 10.3. An option has also been added for finding without replacing in the content of text files.
- Safety options
You can choose to reset the search and replace fields automatically after each operation to prevent accidents. You can also choose whether to quit after each operation.
- Specify Targets by name extension
For file operations you can designate targets by name extension. Choose from the list, or enter your own.
- Find & Replace text in large files.
Operations can be performed on files that exceed the former size limit.
Improvements from version 1.2
Better status reporting
Replace in Text Files removes target file size limitation
Fewer limitations on characters that can be entered for search text and replace text
IMPORTANT: These applications are powerful enough to seriously damage your computer files. Please use them carefully.

Simple Find & Replace in Folder Names Recursive
Replaces text in folder names. Operation includes all nested contents of any folders dropped on the application. Can be used to rename packages. To rename files inside packages, use Simple Find & Replace in File Names. Names of files nested in the hierarchy remain unchanged.
Simple Find & Replace in Folder Names 1 Level
Replaces text in folder names. Operation includes only folders dropped on the application, no nested folders. File names, if dropped, remain unchanged.
Simple Find & Replace in Text Files
Replaces text inside text files. Operation includes all nested contents of any folders dropped on the application. Designate target files by selecting their name extensions. Files of type "TEXT" are always included in the operation, so if you don't want the operation performed on them, remove the File Type attribute. Many free and commercial programs are available to allow you to do this quickly.
Simple Find & Replace is simple freeware.
